What is blueButler?

blueButler is a suite of unique and powerful communications efficiency applications. It is designed to accelerate business processes for the enterprise in order to drive revenue, improve service delivery, customer retention and competitiveness. blueButler is a new and innovative enterprise software platform that seamlessly enables communications efficiency across your entire workforce wherever they may be, using your existing and ever evolving communications infrastructure. blueButler ensures your entire organization gets the maximum benefit of the latest communications efficiencies regardless of the equipment, network services or communications devices you now or in future choose to deploy.

What type of cost savings can I expect?

By enabling communications efficiencies across the entire organization, blueButler is able to not only reduce inefficient use of the network but also eliminate costs associated with carrier services like conference bridges and can dramatically cut recurring wireless expenses.

1. blueButler reduces the total number of wireless minutes used each month by connecting callers on the initial call attempt, avoiding missed calls that often result in voicemail jail. Mobile users no longer waste wireless minutes returning calls that could have connected first time and calling in to check for voicemail messages as blueButler pushes voicemail to the user. For the mobile workforce, many wireless calls are employee to employee over the wireless network and so first time connection results in a double reduction of wireless minutes used for those calls that would otherwise have been missed. Industry estimates show that eliminating the need to check voicemail alone will cut over 10% of total wireless usage. The direct cost saving benefits of increased first time connections are: elimination of expensive carrier "overuse minute charges"; reduced rate plan charges by being able to go to lower use packages; reduced long distance charges and reduced roaming charges.

2. blueButler eliminates costs associated with carrier conference bridge services. Using internal facilities eliminates the expensive per minute charges for all parties on a conference that are often 5 times higher than your negotiated LD rate and are charged even for local calls.

3. blueButler eliminates the need for redundant wireless services like voicemail, pagers, "follow-me" and call forwarding.

4. Mobile workers can use blueButler to securely connect to the corporate network from remote locations. This allows users to make international, long-distance and inter-company calls using inexpensive corporate network facilities rather than paying expensive per minute wireless long-distance rates.

5. blueButler provides a central database of all mobile users and devices that provides the visibility required to negotiate lower corporate-wide wireless rates and the ability for users to share pooled minutes. You can expect to save 15% or more on your wireless expenses by negotiating a corporate-wide wireless rate plan.

6. As new WiFi hotspots proliferate you can expect to save even more using blueButler to bridge communications to mobile workers who are connected through inexpensive WiFi locations.

What other benefits are provided?

The primary purpose of business communications systems and mobile devices is to improve customer service and increase employee productivity. blueButler is designed specifically to drive improved customer service and workforce productivity. With blueButler first time connection and voicemail push to e-mail features, the mobile workforce will experience a dramatic increase in receipt of essential point of transaction information that can make the difference between winning or losing business or just moving the yard sticks forward at critical times. As well, blueButler will, for your entire workforce, eliminate time wasted unnecessarily returning calls and checking voicemail.

Your customers will appreciate less voicemail jail and increased responsiveness when dealing with your staff.

blueButler is also the platform for you to plan and execute your mobile strategy. Using the blueButler database, you can now know and manage the mobile devices connected to your corporate network and the services that you have been paying for but haven't had control over. This platform empowers you to use volume purchasing power for your mobile communications devices and services requirements.

What types of PBXs are supported?

blueButler uses industry-standard Intel® Converged Communications interface cards to connect to the PBX. Intel® cards support all major PBXs including Nortel, Avaya, Siemens and Mitel.

What types of mobile devices and phones are supported?

blueButler supports all mobile phone types and all wireless carrier networks. The complete range of blueButler features may not be supported on all devices. For instance, users with newer model Smartphones and wireless PDAs can utilize the MP3 email and SMS message notification capabilities of blueButler that may not be available to those with older models of mobile phones.

What about security?

Security is paramount in the design of blueButler. It uses a patent-pending wireless security methodology to ensure that remote communications don't cause a breach in the corporate network. Data and passwords are encrypted and voiceprint analysis is used to identify users and a central LDAP schema is used to store user profile data.

What about redundancy?

blueButler is designed to be non-intrusive to the existing PBX infrastructure to ensure minimal impact to your front-line workers should any part of the system be taken off-line. It uses digital station card interfaces to the PBX rather than trunk interfaces in order to not impact callers in the event of failure. blueButler bridges wired and wireless communications connections by intercepting calls that overflow to voicemail and routing them to the appropriate number. This design mitigates the requirement and cost associated with the 99.999% reliability that is built into traditional PBX systems and carrier networks.

blueButler uses the latest industry-standard hardware and software to minimize the effects caused by equipment failures. At its core, blueButler uses an LDAP schema to store user profile data allowing it to be replicated across servers. RAID disks are utilized to protect against hard disk problems. Multiple servers and multiple Intel® voice processing cards can be installed if desired to provide additional redundancy. There is no additional blueButler software license fee associated with installing the software on redundant servers.
